Are you marketing?

Are you marketing or are you just hoping for the best? Yesterday I ran into a friend of mine at the grocery store and every time I see him, we talk about business. He ask about mine, I ask about his. And inevitably, I tend to tell people, "Yeah, I can always use more business."  And he always asks me, "Are you marketing?"

And so I started to think about it - as long as I've known this guy he has asked that question every single time I've talked to it, and it really is the right question to ask. And so I would ask you, "Are you marketing or are you relying on word of mouth or how you always operated or your current customers to just keep coming?"

We think the actions we're taking are marketing, but so often it's either we're just producing content on social media, we're creating videos, we are prompting people to share our story with them. But that's not necessarily marketing. Marketing to me is much more intentional. It's about setting clear goals, coming up with a great plan, executing on your marketing plan, and understanding the outcomes you want to happen. And then when they don't happen, you're adjusting either the plan or your execution.

So I want to ask you, are you intentionally marketing your business, whether it be on social media, whether you're creating content on email or like digital marketing? Are you advertising if not, I want you to think about visiting with me. I have a 90 day accelerator coming up and we're just targeting marketing.
